TWO LIVES, ONE LOVE
—a joint memoir by a long-married couple, commissioned by their children and presented to friends and family at an informal book signing party
Notes: For the most part, the couple was interviewed jointly, and the text reflects the light-hearted banter that typifies their relationship. According to a relative: "I read the book and hear them talking."
After a short article appeared in a local newspaper, the library requested several copies of the book because, said the director, "It's more than the story of two people; it's the story of our whole community."
Legacy Prose™ conducted the interviews, wrote the text and managed all aspects of the project.

Legacy Prose™ conducted the interviews, wrote the text and managed all aspects of the project.

Notes: Interviews took place at the client's home. The project also included considerable genealogical research. Much of this research was included in story form in the book; all of it was organized in chart form and placed in a companion folder.
Legacy Prose™ conducted the interviews, wrote the text and managed all aspects of the project.

COCKEYED BLUE-SKY AMBITIONS:
THE J. ED SIMMS STORY
—a biography of the client's uncle, a talented folk artist, who died in 1946 at age twenty-eight of complications from muscular dystrophy
Notes: The client, Rosemary Arp, did prodigious research for this project, tracking down and interviewing folks who had known her uncle when he was a child.
The response to Arp's book has been overwhelming. It has sold more than two hundred copies, mostly to people who either knew Simms personally or who enjoyed the book because it depicts rural Iowa during the mid-twentieth century.
As a result of the book, which received extensive local newspaper and radio coverage, the Octagon Center for the Arts in Ames, Iowa hosted a six-week exhibition of twenty-three of Simms' paintings.
Legacy Prose™ participated in the project as consultants during the planning, research and writing phases of the project. Production was handled by the client.

SO FAR FROM HOME
—a biography of the client's mother, who died in 1987 at age sixty-nine
Notes: The client knew very little about his mother because "she lost her family during the Holocaust. It made her sad to talk about them, so I never asked." But his wife had taped a short interview in the 1970s and this, coupled with the client's memories, formed the basis for a short book. "At least my children will know something," he said. "Otherwise, when I go, there will be nothing left of my mother, their grandmother."
Legacy Prose™ reviewed the tape, interviewed the client about his memories of his mother and managed all aspects of the project.
